Gabriela is a classically trained guitarist and pianist with a strong foundation in music theory and aural skills. She started learning guitar 16 years ago, and later, guided by her love and passion for music, decided to study music at an advanced level. She started her musical studies at Houston Community College. At HCC, she had the privilege to work with her teacher, Mr. Rosenberg, who introduced Gabriela to classical techniques directly from Spain, learned from master classical guitarist, Pepe Romero. Throughout her career, Gabriela has also had the opportunity to participate in master classes with another amazing master of the classical guitar, Carlos Barboza Lima, from Brazil. Additionally, Gabriela has participated in several classical guitar festivals in Houston and Austin, TX, where she continued to expand her technical skills.
Gabriela has performed both with numerous guitar ensembles, and as a soloist. She has been part of the worship team of her church for the last 5 years, and has volunteered in music clinics where she was first introduced to teaching. Gabriela graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in Mexico, but realized couldn’t see herself doing anything outside of music. She loves passing on the gift of music to others, and believes that talent is learned and acquired through practice, discipline, and patience. She is also convinced that playing an instrument is like holding an amazing treasure in your hands that stays with you forever!
