Sara Dacon, soprano and pianist, is currently pursuing a degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Houston. Sara has been studying classical piano for over 12 years, and has been studying voice for over 6 years. She first began to explore her passion for performance in middle school, and has been performing both vocally and on piano at churches, funerals, and weddings for the past 6 years. Additionally, Sara began working as a piano teacher as a high schooler, at Rowlett Piano Studio.
Sara's love of music inspired her to pursue a career in voice performance, studying under Cynthia Clayton at the Moores School of Music, where she was named a semi-finalist in the Schmidt Vocal Competition, and has received various awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singing. This past summer, Sara traveled to Austria with the UH Concert Chorale, where her choir won first place in the Ave Verum International Choral Competition. Recently, Sara has premiered a new piano suite and has become the understudy for Amalia in the opera "She Loves Me" at the Moore's Opera Center.
Sara is excited to teach in Houston at LIYH, and is most looking forward to connecting with her students and fostering a life-long love of music in them.
