    About Rachel Shukan

Ready to build her students' skills and spread joy through music, Rachel Shukan is extremely excited to teach with Lessons In Your Home. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Music with a degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. Other degrees include a Bachelors of the Arts in Classical Performance and a Masters of Music in Opera Performance. She has experience teaching students of all ages and uses music as a medium for creativity and expression.

Her favorite thing about teaching is the accomplishment her students feel when achieving their goals. Rachel hopes to provide the opportunity for students to learn music in a fun and encouraging environment. She strives to make music an all-inclusive community for all to enjoy and share.

Classical music is her specialty, but loves to sing and play piano in all musical styles. If there’s a microphone, she’s there. Some of her roles include Drusilla in The Coronation of Poppea by Claudio Monteverdi (2016), Alice Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor by Otto Nicolai (2017), Princess Agilea In Handel’s opera Teseo (Miami Music Festival 2018), Nella in Gianni Schicchi with Wichita State University (2019), Marenka in The Universtiy of Houston’s production of The Bartered Bride and studied the role of Fiordiligi from Mozart’s Così fan tutte (2020).

Ms. Shukan thinks that coming together to create music can be a powerful tool of expression. So let’s make music together!
