Kevin is a Kansas City native whose love for music began in grade school choir. By fifth grade, he picked up the trumpet, and that opened the door to the world of jazz—a style that quickly became his passion. In high school, Kevin not only deepened his love for music but also discovered the joy of teaching.
He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from UMKC in 2021, studying under renowned musicians including Bobby Watson, Stan Kessler, Mitch Butler, Adam Larson, Roger Wilder, Nate Nall, and Marcus Lewis. While at UMKC, Kevin also explored other instruments, broadening his musical experience and versatility.
As a professional musician, Kevin performs with a variety of groups around Kansas City in styles ranging from jazz and pop to hip-hop, Latin, rock, funk, and church music. His wide-ranging background helps him connect with students of all ages and interests.
Kevin has been teaching since 2015 and began teaching more professionally in 2020 at several Kansas City music schools before joining Lessons In Your Home. Parents love his ability to make lessons fun, engaging, and inspiring while still helping students grow their skills.
One of Kevin’s personal missions is to help others enrich their lives through music—sharing not only the joy of playing but also the life lessons music can teach.
