    About Jiwoo Nam

Jiwoo Nam began playing the violin at the age of five and quickly discovered a lifelong passion for music. What started as childhood lessons grew into years of dedicated study, countless performances, and a genuine love for sharing music with others. She has had the privilege of training under accomplished instructors, including Juilliard graduates, whose mentorship helped her develop both a strong technical foundation and a deep appreciation for musical expression. For Jiwoo, the violin is more than an instrument, it is a way to tell stories, build confidence, and connect with people in meaningful ways.

Throughout her musical journey, Jiwoo has performed in a variety of settings, from orchestras and churches to community events. She served as Concertmaster of her high school Chamber Orchestra for two years, consistently earned Sweepstakes ratings at the Texas UIL Solo & Ensemble competitions, and performed as a first violinist with the Texas A&M University Chamber Orchestra. She also enjoys performing at her church and volunteering her musical talents at hospice and rehabilitation centers, believing that music has the power to bring comfort, healing, and connection.

Teaching has become one of Jiwoo’s greatest passions. She finds great joy in watching her students grow not only as musicians but also in confidence, discipline, and self-expression. Over the past four years, she has taught students ranging in age from 3 to 75, helping each student build confidence while developing strong technical skills and a genuine love for music. She tailors every lesson to the individual student, using methods such as Suzuki and Essential Elements while incorporating ear training, music theory, and engaging practice strategies. Jiwoo strives to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to grow at their own pace. She believes every student learns differently and enjoys finding creative ways to make lessons engaging, rewarding, and something students look forward to each week.

Outside of teaching and performing, Jiwoo is a Biomedical Sciences graduate from Texas A&M University with aspirations of becoming a physician. She believes that both music and medicine share a common purpose: improving lives through compassion, discipline, and meaningful human connection. Whether a student is picking up the violin for the very first time or preparing for performances and auditions, Jiwoo’s goal is to inspire confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music in every lesson.
