    About James Zimmerman

Guitarist Jamie Zimmerman has been playing guitar for 18 years. His first instructor was a classical guitar player and professional lute player, who taught him guitar from a classical standpoint. While he enjoyed learning classical guitar, as I got older, he began learning other styles such as classic rock and the blues which is what he found his true passion for. He eventually played in band while attending Louisiana State University.

Currently, he enjoys recording music of his own and with local colleagues in Houston. Artists he is influenced by include Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Page, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Billy Gibbons, Duane Allman, Jerry Garcia, Peter Green, Frank Zappa, Roy Buchanan, Freddy King, Albert King, BB King, Otis Rush, and some lesser known artists like Masayoshi Takanaka, Tatsuro Yamashita, Akira Wada, Fela Kuti, Manu Dibango, Bireli Lagrene, Joscho Stephan, and so many others- he can't name them all!

Jamie has been a guitar instructor for students of all ages, and believes in teaching music as a language and a talent. Just like with learning a new language, learning an instrument is a process that takes time, but it is one of the most rewarding things you can do in life.
