Ethan McCutchan is a highly accomplished trumpet performance student currently pursuing a degree in Music Performance at the University of Houston. From a young age, he developed a passion for music and the trumpet. Ethan has honed his skills under the guidance of world class orchestral trumpet players and is committed to growing as a musician and educator. In addition to his expertise on the trumpet, Ethan has enjoyed studying, playing, and now teaching piano. His experience with music spans a diverse range of genres and styles, making him a versatile teacher for students pursuing both trumpet and piano studies.
Ethan is an active performer with significant experience both as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles. He has performed extensively in the Houston area, regularly gigging with local orchestras and brass ensembles. Among his achievements, he earned a position in a professional Navy band, an honor he ultimately declined in order to continue his education and further his musical career. Ethan is also a proud member of the University of Houston’s award-winning National Trumpet Competition ensembles, a testament to his dedication and artistry. His diverse performance experience gives him valuable insight into the discipline, preparation, and confidence required for success in professional music settings.
Ethan’s background in music education includes teaching trumpet at both the middle school and high school levels. As a trumpet instructor at Baines Middle School, he worked closely with students to strengthen their fundamentals, develop musical expression, and build confidence as performers. His teaching experience has equipped him with the ability to adapt to each student’s individual learning style and goals, whether they are just beginning their musical journey or refining advanced skills.
