About DeShana Wooden
DeShana Wooden is a vocalist and musician originally from the Bronx, New York, who began her musical journey in church at age 5 before starting piano and voice lessons at age 7. She holds a degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and teaches both voice and piano.
Throughout her career, she has performed with orchestras nationwide in Pops concerts—celebrating popular music across Jazz, Soul, Rock, and Gospel—and most recently sang supporting vocals in the featured series *"Aretha: Queen of Soul."* Currently based in Houston, she regularly performs as a featured singer with local bands.
DeShana began sharing her love of music as a peer tutor and continued her study of pedagogy into her professional career. Her teaching experience spans every stage of learning—from leading early childhood music and "Baby & Me" classes to serving as a college lecturer and coaching working professionals. Whether working with a total beginner or an experienced vocalist refining their craft, she tailors her approach to meet each student's goals.
