Carlos Figueroa is a Houston native who has always found joy in music and the arts. He grew up singing in choir, performing in theatre, and writing music for indie video games. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition from Sam Houston State University, where he studied voice with Dr. Tony Boutté and composition with Dr. Kyle Kindred. During his studies, Carlos brought musicians together to perform his original works and discovered a passion for leading others through music.
As a performer, Carlos has sung internationally in Dido and Aeneas in Japan and appeared in musical theatre productions such as You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, in which he portrayed Charlie Brown.
For more than five years, Carlos has taught piano and voice to students of all ages. He believes that music lessons are deeply personal experiences that build confidence, independence, and creativity. His teaching philosophy centers on connection and encouragement, helping each student discover their unique musical voice.
Carlos is also an active composer and orchestrator for film. His credits include original scores for TypeCast, The Star Who Fell to Earth, and The Face You Took Away, as well as orchestrations for The Second Prince and Chet Bond. During his time in Los Angeles, he continued teaching while expanding his work as a composer and collaborator.
Outside of music, Carlos enjoys spending time outdoors, swimming, producing new music, and playing Dungeons & Dragons. He believes that creativity and curiosity go hand in hand—both in his own artistic journey and in the lessons he shares with his students.
