Starting piano at the age of six, Camila has developed a lifelong passion for music and a diverse musical background through years of study, performance, and teaching. Throughout her journey, she has had the opportunity to learn from teachers with a variety of musical backgrounds, teaching styles, and areas of expertise. These experiences have helped shape her own approach to music education and have given her a broad perspective on how students learn and develop as musicians.
Camila has studied music at the University of Houston and is currently continuing her education in piano pedagogy through The Royal Conservatory of Music. Her ongoing studies allow her to deepen her understanding of effective teaching methods while continuing to grow as both a musician and educator.
As a teacher, Camila believes that a student's experience with their teacher can have a lasting impact on their relationship with music. She understands that every student is unique, with different goals, interests, learning styles, and reasons for wanting to play piano. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Camila takes the time to get to know each student and understand what motivates them. She then thoughtfully tailors each lesson to their individual needs, helping students build strong musical foundations while keeping lessons engaging, encouraging, and enjoyable.
For Camila, teaching is about more than simply learning how to play an instrument. She wants her students to develop confidence, creativity, discipline, and a genuine appreciation for music that can continue throughout their lives. She believes music should be something students can enjoy and connect with, whether their goal is to play for fun, prepare for exams, perform, accompany others, or simply explore their creativity.
One of Camila's favorite things about music is the way it brings people together and creates a sense of community. Outside of teaching, you can often find her playing piano as part of a church worship team, making music with friends, or sharing music with others. Whether she is performing, learning, or teaching, Camila loves creating meaningful connections through music and helping others discover the joy of playing piano.
