    About Brittney Woolbright

Brittney Woolbright began taking piano lessons in her hometown of Martinsville, Indiana when she was nine years old. Her higher education began in 2017 at Purdue University Fort Wayne as a music therapy major after receiving a scholarship for piano performance. In 2018, Brittney moved to Hawaii and started her own piano studio for children at beginner and intermediate levels. She also became involved in Hospice Hawaii’s therapeutic music program, where volunteers were encouraged to visit with patients and engage in a meaningful musical experience together. In 2020, Brittney moved to Boone, North Carolina to resume schooling. She earned an Associate in Fine Arts Music degree from Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in 2021. She completed her undergraduate coursework for a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy degree from Appalachian State University in 2024. There, she studied piano performance with Dr. Biar Shagdaron and collaborative piano with Dr. Catherine Garner.

While growing up, Brittney competed in several Indiana State School Music Association competitions and earned multiple gold medals for solo piano performances and accompaniments. Brittney performed solo repertoire at women’s compositions recitals and piano studio recitals during her time at Appalachian State University. She more commonly performed collaborative pieces with flutists, oboists, and singers. Brittney was also invited to perform at the Horton Hotel and The Inn at Crestwood located in Boone, North Carolina.

Along with teaching privately during her time in Hawaii, Brittney also taught lessons through a local studio, community college, and privately for two years in Boone. She taught ages 5-22 years old, including students of all abilities. Her lessons are adapted and individualized to each student’s learning style.

Brittney aspires to use music as a medium to educate, unite, uplift, and bring healing to others. Her goal in teaching is to build a solid musical foundation in children so that students can not only learn a new skill, but also foster a constructive and creative outlet that brings them joy.
