    About Alex Barraza

    Alex Barraza is a Houstonian who grew up in the Cypress area. He began his cello studies in 6th grade. Throughout his public school years he has won awards through UIL competitions and has performed solos for his school orchestras along with being an active performer outside of the classroom at community churchs. He was also 3rd chair of the Kingwood Pops Orchestra while in High School. He has also attended festivals and organizations such as Sam Houston Orchestra Camp and Houston Youth Symphony Orchestra. Being Principal Cellist and Assistant Principal Cellist in both orchestras. Alex has also taken piano lessons and is active in teaching piano.

    Alex is currently at the University of Houston working on his degree in Cello Performance at the Moores School of Music. His current professor is world renowned soloist Vagram Saradjian who is a student of the famous cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. Alex has recently performed with the University of Houston Symphony Orchestra and the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra

    He has had Master Classes and Lessons with Brinton Smith and Anthony Kitai in his college career so far. Alex is still a dedicated performer in the community of Houston and is an active teacher for his current students.

    He is excited to have a teaching studio of his own to pass down the knowledge of his current teacher.
