Yammy was born in Hong Kong with fluency in Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and English. Her music life was inspired by her grandpa who self-learned many instruments and always played piano in her childhood. Thanks to heavy encouragement and support from her grandpa, Yammy began self-learning the piano and a handful of other instruments until she eventually began taking private lessons at an early age.
Currently, Yammy is earning her Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance at Georgia State University with professor Geoffrey Haydon. She has enjoyed teaching private piano lessons for the past 5 years to students of all ages. She was in secondary education and has completed classroom observation at Chamblee Charter high school for choral and theatre classes. A multi-instrumentalist herself, Yammy also plays and teaches the guitar in addition to the piano.
Yammy is passionate about music and teaching. Most of all, she cherishes the opportunity to build connections with her students and supporting them as they grow and learn each week. Yammy believes music is a language without barriers and she aims to inspire her students just as how her grandpa inspired her. When she isn't teaching, Yammy enjoys serving in various school and church choirs as well as writing and producing her own music.
