    About Sonja Misko

Sonja Misko is a talented pianist. Inspired by the stories of her grandmother a concert pianist from the Netherlands, Ms. Misko began taking private music lessons and piano instruction at nine years of age. Her favorite composers are Frederick Chopin and Sebastien Bach. She also loves Opera, especially Puccini’s Tosca and La Traviata. Ms. Misko has played in several recitals. She has performed Chopin’s Nocturnes No. 1 In B Flat Minor, Op. 9 and No. 19 In E Minor, Op. 72 No. 1, as well as Liebestraum by Franz Liszt.

Ms. Misko is an Elementary School Teacher. She taught for two years in the second grade and is currently a home room 4th grade teacher. In addition to her experience as an elementary school teacher, Ms. Misko has offered private lessons to students.

Along with Ms. Misko’s years of private instruction, she has a year on intensive study in music theory as part of her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. Her studies in music theory concentrated on the musical scale and mathematical proportions. During this year Ms. Misko composed her own musical work based on Mozart’s piano concerto.

In addition to playing and teaching, Ms. Misko loves animals and gardening. She has a three-year-old Australian Shepherd which he loves to teach tricks and take on long runs.

Ms. Misko is excited to be working with Lessons in Your Home and sharing her love of music and piano with its students!
