Shakirah is a dedicated violin teacher born, raised and based in Atlanta, GA, with a rich background in both Violin Performance and Neuroscience. Graduating with a dual degree in Neuroscience and Music from The University of Georgia, they have been honing their skills as a classically trained violinist since 2009, specializing in the Suzuki Method under the mentorship of professional violinist and violist Adam Crane. Their musical journey includes performances as First Violinist in The University of Georgia's Philharmonia and participation in various orchestras such as Emory's Encore Music Camp Orchestras, Gwinnett County Youth Symphony Orchestra, Kendall Youth Orchestra, Gwinnett County Symphony Orchestra and Concertmaster/ First Chair all four years in her High School Chamber Orchestra.
Throughout their career, Shakirah has garnered numerous accolades and personal accomplishments, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication to music. They have had the honor of performing at the Governor's Mansion, Universal Studios and a Fine Dining Venus in (Midtown) Atlanta, GA. Their contributions to the music community have been recognized through multiple awards, including recognition as Musician of the Year and the distinction of Outstanding Musician in the Berkmar High School Orchestra (2016). These accolades are a testament to their unwavering commitment to excellence and their profound impact on the local music scene.
Beyond their musical endeavors, they bring a unique perspective as a Neurotherapist, utilizing their expertise to work with students of diverse cognitive and neurological backgrounds. With experience in improving Visual Attention, Auditory Attention and Fine Motor Skills, they address concerns beyond music, such as confidence, concentration and memory, using therapeutic techniques to make music an outlet for creative expression all while having fun. Since graduating, they have been dedicated to sharing their passion for the violin through teaching, blending a strong foundation in classical technique with an emphasis on nurturing creativity and musical expression in each student.
