    About Seven Spillios

Highly-motivated and energetic Music Teacher since 2012 with years of active experience in providing music lessons to friends and family, elementary students picking up an instrument for the first time, high school students beginning to understand what music means to them, and post-college adults getting a head-start on Berklee/Julliard theory, sight-reading, notation, and aural skills. Seven has strong communication and analyst skills assist in developing content-rich curricula designed to help every student improve in all aspects of their craft. He is skilled in playing many musical instruments, and showing the connections (theoretical/practical/etc.) between all of them, and he carries a passion for spreading knowledge through practicality and involved, personal discussion.

Seven attended Rogue Community College and Southern Oregon University, studying music composition, performance, and music education. He was an active member of several extra-curricular activities, such as the Siskiyou Saxophone Ensemble, and he founded the University's first composer's and songwriter's club, which would go on to feature student works at an annual recital. In the realm of composition, Seven has written for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles including the Chinquapin String Quartet, Manifold Wind Quintet, Atlantic Music Festival's 2017 resident orchestra, and even a local emo group, Dearheart. Seven moved to Seattle in August 2018 to further his craft in music composition and saxophone performance. He plays regularly around town with 6+ acts including Boogie Boulevard, Hip Shot, Checkered Record, and under his own name.

Seven's approach to music education is always one of introspect and positive reinforcement. The use of method books and theory are always secondary to the music, itself. He understands that everyone learns at different paces and is flexible in ways to approach a given topic. In performance, he wants to indulge the audience in the world he creates. In education, Seven wants to bestow his students with an ever-lasting wonder and excitement for the beauty of music.
