Sean Andrews has been playing the piano since the age of 8. Although music was an integral part of his childhood, he did not choose it as his major in college. Instead, he graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois with a B.F.A in Theatre with an emphasis on Acting. As a working actor, he began to miss the predominance of music in his life and started to actively seek out musical opportunities in theatrical settings, gradually transitioning to a music director, conductor, pianist, and teacher. He has performed in venues throughout the Midwest, Florida, and New York City. Sean has worked as a music director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, as the onboard conductor for “We Will Rock You”, “Mamma Mia!”, and “Hairspray”. In New York City, he has performed in numerous cabaret clubs throughout Manhattan and was a frequent audition and rehearsal pianist in the theatre district.
Education has been a part of Sean’s life for over a decade. As a formally trained actor and as a music director, he has always believed that story telling is the primary goal of any artistic expression. He has a passion for collaborating with students of all ages and discovering the story within music. Everyone has a different connection to music and a different musical journey and Sean’s goal is to find that with each student and foster that creativity.
When not teaching or performing, Sean is an avid traveler and explorer. He enjoys sky diving, scuba diving, and everything in between! As a life-long student himself, he continues to learn, experience, and grow daily. He hopes to continue to share his passion for music and his growth-mindset with other musicians and students of music.
