    About Sara Schmidt

    Sara graduated from Colorado State University in 2016 with bachelor’s degrees in music performance and music therapy. Following her education, she accepted an internship in the Laurence Public School and facilitated individual music therapy session to students in special needs classrooms ages k-12.

    In 2017, Sara moved back to Denver to continue her career as a music therapist. For two years, she worked with a therapy agency and provided music therapy for children with life limiting illnesses and their families. As a music therapist, Sara also taught music lessons to medically fragile children as a coping and leisure skill. Sara has a passion for helping with individuals on the autism spectrum through music therapy, and has been working with children with development and intellectual disabilities for nearly 10 years.

    As an educator and a therapist, Sara believes her role is to provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students to learn, grow, and have fun. Sara wants her students to feel free to express their own unique individuality in music, and be celebrated for their creative triumphs. In her spare time, Sara loves playing classical music on her harp, rock ballads on the piano, love songs on her ukulele, bluegrass or punk rock music on her guitars, and singing old jazz standards. Sara was grew up in the Colorado high country, and loves being outdoors. Sara can often be found hiking in the Colorado Rockies has two recued dogs Henry, and Hiromi.
