    About Robert Sacks

Davis (Robert) Sacks is a NoVA based Guitar and Piano Instructor who works with students of all ages and levels. Introduced to music as a baby by his parents, a musician and a painter, Davis Sacks grew up hearing a wide variety of musical sounds.

Sparing the reader his entire life's story, Davis is now a classically trained guitarist of 19 years experience. He received his Bachelor's of Arts in music from the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College. He has studied guitar with Rod Hudson, Brett Miller, and Dr. James Hontz and has had the privilege of attending a master class with Jason Vieaux.

Davis performs solo guitar at weddings and with his two bands in the Washington, DC area. He has taught students ranging from ages 5 to 65 and teaches all techniques, styles, and genres of guitar from classical to flamenco, metal, jazz, reggae, funk, blues, country, or rock -- Anything -- Even if the instrument making the sound you want to play isn't a guitar, he can teach you. It's all just music to him.

Pedagogically, Davis believes that patience and discipline are both crucial to consistent practice, which is a pillar of music performance. He also believes that learning an instrument is valuable not only as a means of creation and self expression, but as a means of self exploration and discovery. It is his mission to connect people to these means and encourage and guide them on their journeys.
