    About Orlando Hernandez

Orlando Hernandez began learning music at the age of 13, specializing in drums, percussion and music production. At first, Orlando’s passion was drawn towards the jazz rock fusion genre. He began taking private lessons with Alex Acuña, drummer for renowed jazz group Weather Report, and Walfredo Reyes Sr, renowned latin drummer and Sabian Cymbals Hall of Fame inductee. He attended University of Las Vegas Nevada and Miami Dade Community College, where he studied as a music major. He teaches many different styles of music including jazz, pop, funk, rock and Latin jazz.

Some of his accomplishment include winning three Grammy awards, over five hundred albums recorded and a musical performance with Arturo Sandoval and the London Symphony Orchestra for BBC Television. Orlando currently does session work from his home for major Latin artists. Since 2006, he has been the drummer for Puerto Rican Pop Idol, “Chayanne”. His music and performances can be seen and heard on his YouTube channel titled “Orlando Hernandez Jr.”

Orlando aims to inspire a lasting passion for music in each of his students by motivating them with his enthusiastic nature and love for music. He makes of each lesson a fun time for the students, by expanding and discovering new techniques and musical avenues.
