Nico received his first guitar at the age of eight and has been playing
music ever since. When he was ten he started drum lessons and found
it to be an excellent outlet for his creativity and energy. Throughout
middle school and high school in South Florida, Nico played in concert
bands, jazz bands, rock bands, marching bands, percussion ensembles,
and many other groups in addition to taking lessons on various
instruments, including guitar, bass, and drums.
Before graduating from high school he was awarded the John Phillip
Sousa Award, a Pathfinder Scholarship, and a Young Artist Award (which
included a concerto performance with the Treasure Coast Symphony
Orchestra) and then continued his education at the University of Florida.
There, Nico received the Friends of Music Scholarship for four years
before graduating with honors, earning a degree in Music Performance
and continuing to play in various ensembles including the UF Wind
Symphony and Sunshine Steelers Steeldrum Band. After relocating to
Orlando, Nico has continued to perform with various groups and
maintains a full teaching schedule with students of all ages on guitar,
drums, ukulele, bass, and percussion.
