    About Nathan Wolfe

Nathan Wolfe is a Brass Specialist and Piano & Bass Guitar instructor who is fluent in a myriad of musical settings. He has experience playing in anything from jazz and funk bands, to symphonic and opera orchestras. He received his Bachelor's of Music from the University of Maryland where he studied with Chris Gekker. He has also studied trumpet with Ray Riccomini and Robert Birch, and has played in masterclasses with Brandon Ridenour and Mark Gould.

In lessons, Nathan likes to employ a technique-based approach that includes exercises and etudes to help his students meet their musical goals, while also giving each student the freedom to play the kind of music they are interested in, whether it be jazz, classical, rock, or pop. His ultimate goal is to develop his students into skilled musicians who are joyful about the music they create.

Nathan believes in finding what works well for every student's lessons on an individual basis. For Piano, he enjoys the Faber Piano Adventures for fundamentals. With Trumpet, he incorporates both solo and ensemble methods so students maintain skills learned at school with band or orchestra and have an opportunity to develop the solo side of their playing too. His hope is to set strong foundations in place that will lead to a rewarding playing experience. Nathan works with students as young as age 5 through adults.

Outside of teaching, Nathan also enjoys playing piano and bass guitar. He is also passionate about hiking, basketball, and corgis. One of his lifelong goals is to visit every national park.
