    About Matthew Brown

Matthew Brown started his musical journey playing euphonium at the age of 10. Since then, he has learned trombone, tuba, trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, and piano. During high school, he was selected to be a member of the All-State Band three times, and also performed with the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. Matthew took lessons from a variety of expert and professional trombone, euphonium, and tuba players during high school and college, which has allowed him to experience many different styles of teaching. While at the University of Georgia, he studied under Professor David Zerkel while earning a bachelor's degree in Philosophy with a minor in Music. Matthew also participated in the Redcoat Marching Band and was a member of a rock band, which broadened his playing experience. As a member of the marching band, he spent time as a section leader and taught sousaphone at a high school marching band camp, which helped him realize a passion for teaching music to others. Matthew aims to lead his students to have the same positive and fulfilling relationship with music that he does.
