    About Malcolm Wood

"Music is an adventure, sheet music is your map, technique is your tools, playing out of key are the raisins in the trail mix, and practice is every step on the journey."

Malcolm Wood is a multi-instrumental Music Educator based in Fairfax Virginia. He began his adventure in music in the 3rd grade on violin and soon switched to trumpet in the 4th grade, and has stuck with it since.

Throughout his career, he has participated in marching bands, jazz bands, brass quintets, concert bands, and choirs and has taught, conducted, provided sectionals, and arranged for them as well. While trumpet is his primary instrument he has found joy in both playing and teaching other instruments such as piano, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, clarinet, guitar, and ukulele.

Malcolm has been teaching music for four years professionally - both privately and in the public school system as a coach and substitute teacher, and is excited to teach music for many years to come.
