    About Kennan Spencer

Having grown up in Anne Arundel County, and performing in virtually every school and county ensemble growing up, Kennan is excited to share his passion for drums and percussion with the next generation of musicians.

Kennan grew up interested in every avenue of percussion. From a young age, he was involved in his school's concert band, orchestra, jazz band, and marching band. Kennan has developed his own knowledge and skills in the orchestral arts performing with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (2014-2016) as well as the Maryland All-State Symphony Orchestra as Principal Perucussionist (2017). In the marching arts, he performed with many talented drumlines. He began his career marching with Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps (2018-2019), and Imperial Dynasty (2019). He continued progressing as a musician as he joined George Mason University’s Indoor Drumline (2020).

Having to put his marching career on a hold due to the pandemic, Kennan continued to push his technique and performance quality in 2021 in hopes to perform again as soon as he was able. Kennan was fortunately able to have the honor of aging out in DCI with Carolina Crown (2021), and perform his last WGI show with the George Mason University Indoor Drumline’s production, “Nothing Lost” (2022).

Outside of the marching arts, Kennan received a B.M in Jazz Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park (2021). Kennan is also the drumset player for the funk/pop band, Strutman Lane, where he performs in and around the D.C area. While continuing to perform with his band, Kennan began his teaching career as a snare drum technician for the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps (2022), George Mason Univeristy Indoor Drumline (2022-Present) and The Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps (2023).
