    About Jorge Reve

Since he was little, Jorge showed interest in the arts, music being his favorite, which would later become his greatest passion. At the age of 12, he began receiving complementary piano lessons with private teachers. His curiosity about its different sounds led him to approach other instruments such as double bass and bass guitar. Jorge decides to continue his career as a musician, but with a professional focus... and at the age of 16 (2007) he enters the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory (Havana, CUBA) under the profile of classical double bass.

During Jorge's stay at the Conservatory, he had the opportunity to participate in various activities organized by said institution in agreement with other cultural entities. Jorge was part of the Conservatory's youth symphony orchestra as well as the chamber music orchestra, performing in several presentations nationwide. For Jorge, this was his most enriching experience as a student, as he delved into the wide universe of music, began to understand it and make it part of his daily chores, and also being able to share it with other young musicians.

In 2011, Jorge graduated from the Conservatory and immediately began his first year of social service in the ICRT Orchestra (Cuban Institute of Radio and Television) directed by Maestro Patterson. The following year, Jorge entered the ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte) again under the classical double bass profile. During that time as a university student, Jorge participated in different activities coordinated by the university, as well as in Competitions, Arts Festivals and graduation recitals. The University was a beautiful stage to experiment and delve into both the field of classical (academic) music and popular music, jazz, Latin jazz, Cuban salsa and alternative genres. Jorge graduated from the National Institute of Arts in 2017, studying classical double bass.

Professionally, Jorge has worked as a bassist in various Cuban popular music and Latin jazz groups. Including several national and international tours, to countries such as Mexico, Peru, Venezuela and the U.S. In addition to nominations for the CUBADISCO AWARDS (2019) as a member of the band Club Conexo for the Album: “Best Singing”, BISMUSIC (record label) Estudios Areito (album which can be found on the Spotify and YouTube Music platforms. Due Being in constant movement with different groups and various artistic work activities, Jorge did not have enough time to teach classes in schools, but he did have the opportunity to teach private classes to young beginners and upper secondary level, both bass guitar like a classic double bass.

In August 2021 he entered Georgia State University to pursue a master's degree in Jazz Studies. Thanks to this he had the opportunity to be a member of the University of Georgia Jazz Band, as a bassist. Furthermore, during his short stay in Atlanta, Jorge has had the pleasure and opportunity to share the stage with excellent musicians and directors such as: Gordon J. Vernick, David Sánchez, Miguel Zenon, Frankie Quiñones, Huey Dumbar, Joe Gransden, Robin Latimore, Papo Sánchez, Jessy Díaz, Louis Heriveaux, Jeff Tain Watts... among others.

Since his graduation with a MM in Jazz Studies, Jorge continues to enjoy studying music, sharing the stage with musicians from all different cultures, listening to a lot of varied music in his free time, composing, but what he enjoys most is sharing his knowledge with students of all ages and philosophizing about the arts.
