    About Jeff Dixon

    Jeff is a music teacher and choir director who specializes in voice, piano, music theory, and guitar. He has a passion for helping students explore and strengthen their musical identity and performance. Every music student, no matter the age or ability, brings their dynamic personality and creativity into the learning environment. In lessons and classes, Jeff aims to discover, cultivate the musical and creative spirit within each student. To best accomplish this, he designs personalized goals and lessons to engage and challenge each student in a fun and collaborative manner.

    He received his Master’s of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Colorado Boulder and Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Jeff currently acts as Director of Music and choir director at Heart of Longmont. Jeff has performed with various musical ensembles, including the St. John’s Cathedral Choir, Ars Nova Singers, Summit Choral Society, Manchester Choral Society (New Hampshire), Hans Sachs Chor (Nürnberg, Germany), Opera Classica Europa (Wiesbaden, Germany) Opera Colorado, Opera Fort Collins, and Anima Chamber Ensemble.

    In addition to performing and choir directing, Jeff has worked for the Aspen Music Festival and School as their supertitles manager, where he compiled and translated lyrics for the weekly opera scenes as well as the three main stage opera productions. At Breckenridge Backstage Theater, he served as Music Director for the productions of Little Shop of Horrors and A Rocky Mountain Christmas, an original musical stage work with music complied, composed, and arranged by Jeff.

    Outside of the music teaching world, Jeff pursues research and scholarship in the fields of mental health, psychology, and music therapy. Last but certainly not least, Jeff is passionate about hiking, skiing, and traveling with his wife and son. No matter what career or passion we pursue, cultivating a musically-informed worldview makes our lives more fulfilling, dynamic, fulfilling, and harmonious.
