Jackoby (Jack-uh-Bee) is a passionate and dedicated instructor and performer of piano, voice, and even trombone. He attended University of North Texas where he received professional instruction for music in addition to musical theater. He has studied piano and vocals for nearly his whole life and has even performed in All-State ensembles as a high-schooler, a highly competitive and prestigious program in which only a select few students from the entire state of Texas are invited to perform. He also involved in music theater roles such as Jack Kelly from Newsies, and Younger Brother from Ragtime.
Jackoby is the grandson of Icelandic immigrants who instilled a love of music, a drive for storytelling, and all kinds of great self-philosophies. When he was young, he worked with his grandmother as a funeral mourner. He’s learned a very particular style of Icelandic Folk singing he now hopes pass on to future generations.
What matters most to Jackoby as teacher is that a student enjoys the art they create and believes in themselves. Progress looks like different to different people and no one is truly amazing at everything from the beginning. It’s about cultivating what their talents are, and training and strengthening what they are less skilled at.
Outside of music, Jackoby is an active voiceover artist and has been contracted with Crunchyroll to do voice work for anime dubbing in the United States. He also enjoys writing in his spare time.
