HB Wilder is a guitarist and multi-instrumental music instructor who has taught in DC area schools as well as doing individual instruction.
HB grew up in the DC area and fell in love with the music scene from an early age. Whether they were hauling gear to a show with their friends or jamming out with them in the basement, music quickly became a big part of their life, and this remains true today. In High School and during college, HB spent the summers working within a camp program that focused on providing a typical summer camp experience to children with developmental differences. This included time in the camp’s arts program.
HB Graduated from Skidmore College in 2016 with a degree in psychology, having studied the psychological and neurological processes associated with musical notation reading. While earning their degree, they also completed extensive music program course-work and performed with the Skidmore Guitar Ensemble. They have had the opportunity to study classical and jazz guitar, banjo, ukulele, bass guitar, and drums.
A few years after college, HB found themselves in a management position at a local distillery in Rockville where they started a live music program that featured local artists and small touring acts. After running the program for a while, they decided to devote their full attention to music.
Currently, HB is a full-time music instructor and has worked with students from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. They are adept at creating and adapting exercises to suit each student's specific needs. Their interest in the psychological and therapeutic benefits of learning to play an instrument helps drive their passion for teaching others. In addition to teaching, HB writes their own songs and performs in the MoCo area.
