Genny Patricia Triana Florez is a Colombian-American violinist, violist, and dedicated teaching artist with extensive experience working with students of diverse ages and backgrounds. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Universidad Industrial de Santander in Bucaramanga, Colombia, and a Performer Certificate from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Genny has served as a music teacher with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, teaching at Auburndale Elementary and West Homestead K-8 Center. She has also worked as a Teaching Artist with Miami Music Project, where she taught violin and viola, and has taught string instruments through the Arlington Enrichment Program, Music and Arts Academy, and Ecamuss Music Academy. Her early experience includes serving as an assistant music teacher and assistant conductor of a high school string orchestra in Colombia.
As a professional musician, Genny has performed extensively as both a violinist and violist. Her orchestral experience includes performances with the South Florida Symphony, Fort Smith Symphony, UTA Symphony Orchestra, TCU Symphony Orchestra, and orchestras in Colombia. She has also participated in professional recording projects, including a Naxos recording of Florence Price’s Symphonies No. 1 and 4 with the Fort Smith Symphony.
As a teaching artist, Genny brings together her experience as an educator and professional performer to help students develop strong musical foundations while discovering the creativity, discipline, and joy that come with learning an instrument. Her background in orchestral performance, music education, and community-based music programs allows her to connect technical instruction with meaningful musical experiences.
Genny is bilingual in English and Spanish and is passionate about making music education accessible, engaging, and inspiring for students and their communities.
