Douglas "DJ" Rees is a highly motivated musician with a comprehensive background in performance, composition/arranging, and music business. Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Georgia, he has more than 10 years of experience in a variety of ensembles and bands as a performer on multiple instruments. DJ's love for music began in middle school when he picked up the violin. He played violin with his school orchestras for the next seven years, and while in high school, his school was named the number one public school orchestra in the nation. After high school, DJ re-focused his passion for music to the guitar. At the University of Georgia, he spent four years honing his skills on guitar, focusing mostly on classical music. He participated in the Guitar Studio and the UGA Jazz Band while there. He also spent those years taking piano and voice lessons, and participated in the UGA Glee Club his entire time at UGA.
After college, DJ moved his focus to teaching and performing. He has performed hundreds of shows in some of Georgia's biggest music venues and has played alongside many national touring acts. He has had original songs played on FM radio stations, including 99x, and has been ranked as high as number one on the rock music charts for Athens, Georgia. He currently lives in Atlanta and teaches guitar, bass, and piano at School of Rock in John's Creek to kids and adults of all ages. He recently finished scoring an original soundtrack for a film, and is in the process of recording his second studio album.
