    About Diego Villacrez

Diego Villacrez began his piano studies at age eleven. He studied six years with Edith Sorin, and four years with Giselle Brodsky; the two co-founders of the Miami International Piano Festival. As a young piano student, he entered the Junior Convention of the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) for several years, receiving consistent superior ratings in both solo piano and piano concerto categories. In addition to his piano studies, Diego also played the French horn and trumpet and was a member of his school’s advanced vocal ensemble as a bass singer.

Diego holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano from Florida International University, where he studied privately with the artist in residence, Kemal Gekic. He also studied organ with Joanne Schulte. In 2015, Diego won 3rd prize in the FIU Concerto Competition playing the Rachmaninoff Second Piano Concerto. After his undergraduate studies, he also studied piano tuning, repair and regulation at the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology.

In 2018, Diego went to Malaga, Spain to study piano and chamber music with concert pianist Misha Dacic at the Ivan Galamian International Academy of Music. Now, Diego currently dedicates his time to teaching piano and accompanying various instruments, voices, and ensembles in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
