Dena Barros, a native of Miami-Dade County, has been immersed in the city's vibrant art scene since childhood. Her journey as a performer began at the age of seven, when she was captivated by a school production of "The Wizard of Oz." From that moment on, she has dedicated herself to the world of music and theater. Throughout her formative years, Dena participated in numerous theater and choir competitions, garnering notable recognition and earning prestigious awards.
In the fall of 2020, Dena's passion for music and theater led her to pursue a professional education at the esteemed New World School of the Arts. Currently working towards a BFA in Musical Theatre, she is expected to graduate in May 2024. Dena has already established herself with memorable performances in various productions, including standout roles such as Lucy in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," Marta in "Company," and Phoebe in "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder."
With over five years of personalized voice lessons under her belt, Dena has honed her vocal skills and amassed a wealth of experience in Miami's singing competitions. She possesses versatility across multiple musical genres, encompassing classical, pop, rock, jazz, and, naturally, musical theater. Music has become an outlet for self-expression for Dena, and she strongly believes in its healing and therapeutic qualities. As a vocal instructor, her primary objective is to help her students discover their own unique voice. Dena firmly believes that singing is an art form accessible to everyone and can be cultivated through dedicated practice and guidance.
In addition to her musical pursuits, Dena indulges her passion for entertaining by working as a party entertainer with South Florida Surprises. Donning various character costumes, she delights children at parties and events. Her experience working with young ones has equipped her with the skills to cater to their individual needs, making her vocal lessons engaging and enjoyable. Dena strives to create a fun and dynamic learning environment where her students eagerly anticipate their lessons, fostering curiosity and excitement.
Moreover, Dena possesses fluency in both English and Spanish, allowing her to offer instruction in either language. She is enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge and teaching in a manner that accommodates her students' preferred language, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all.
