David Dent is a Colorado native guitarist, vocalist, bassist, pianist, composer, and songwriter. He has been the frontman of the pop-punk band Almost, Maine and has toured the United States as far as Chicago and Los Angeles. The band has also had the opportunity to open up for national acts like Cage The Elephant, Set It Off, 888, Misterwives, and Rivals. Almost, Maine have worked with renowned sound engineers Mike Kalajian and James Paul Wisner. Currently, David is studying at the University of Colorado Denver in the Singer/Songwriter discipline with Pete Ellingson, Evan Shelton, Drew Morell, Paul Musso, Michael Lancaster, and Heidi Schmidt and in the Recording Arts discipline with Jeff Merkel, Cory Cullinan, and John Broaddus.
His music journey began in elementary school when he stumbled upon his dad’s classical acoustic guitar in his grandparents’ home. Upon bringing it home and getting it cleaned up, David began teaching himself guitar through tabs. Several years and a repertoire of songs later, he founded Almost, Maine with some school friends. The band started as a cover band — playing the likes of All Time Low, Blink-182, and Green Day — but eventually, they began writing original songs with David being the primary songwriter and lyricist for the band. After several lineup changes, the final conception of the band came into existence in 2016 and they released their debut LP “Stories” in 2017 featuring 13 original tracks. All of David’s time in the studio over his bands’ lifetime led him to an interest in the world of audio engineering. During his free-time in 2020, he began teaching himself how to use ProTools, and learned how to play piano leading him to UCD as a Singer/Songwriter and Recording Arts student.
Outside of music, David's hobbies and interests include photography, film, travel, and Star Wars. Currently, he most enjoys urban photography as he believes there is a deep philosophy to be found in slowing down and being mindful of the wonders that can be found in the mundane commute. David most enjoys films with outstanding scores and cinematography and views film as the perfect marriage of the two. Of all the places he has been in the United States, David says that the Oregon coast and the Hoh Rainforest in Washington are his two favorite places. His love for Star Wars began before he can remember and he is currently very excited for the continued stories of Andor and The Mandalorian.
