    About Dahae Cheong

Music has been a large part of Dahae's life. She started playing the piano at age six, and then started taking cello lessons around the age of 12. She looked forward to cello lessons, because her teachers were encouraging and made lessons fun. She was part of both her high school orchestra, and also part of Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Dahae went on to pursue her Bachelor of Music from Seattle University. She has had the privilege of working in masterclasses with Mihai Tetel, Alan Harris, Melissa Kraut, John Michel, and Bion Tsang. In college she learned about music theory, ear training, performance tips, chamber music, orchestral excerpts, and more! It was fascinating to see all the facets of music!

She plays in Orchestra Seattle currently. She has won prizes from her the Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside, the Seattle University Young Artist Music Competition, and from ARIA International Summer Music Academy in South Hadley, MA. She currently is a member of Puget Sound Strings and Orchestra Seattle.

Along with her performing interests, Dahae has 8 years of cello teaching experience, and has taught students ages ranging from 5 to 84. Dahae has perfect pitch and loves to incorporate ear training exercises, and creative ways to build technique during her lessons. Teaching cello is her passion. She finds excitement in opening up the world of cello to everyone. She loves the fact that cello can be really personal, but music can be shared to people of all ages.
