    About Benjamin Oglesby-Davis

Benjamin’s exposure to music began at the age of 5 on the piano and violin. Around the age of 12, Benjamin began studying bassoon and guitar, receiving musical guidance from Atlanta jazz musicians John and Rosemary Robertson, Tavius Elder, Gordon Vernick, James H. Patterson, and Kebbi Williams. Benjamin holds a bachelor's degree in music from Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied with guitarist Bobby Ferrazza, saxophonist Gary Bartz, drummer Billy Hart, and composer Stephen Hartke. As a student at Oberlin, he was afforded the opportunity to perform at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola in NYC as part of the inaugural Oberlin Sonny Rollins Jazz Ensemble in 2017-2018.

As a teacher, Benjamin encourages his students to be fearless in their pursuit of music. He relishes the opportunity to help push each and every one of them to do something unique with their respective instruments and talents. Benjamin helps his students reach their goals by fostering a solid foundation in instrumental knowledge, understanding of harmony and rhythm, instilling proper technique and posture, and most importantly teaching patience and consistency through positive reinforcement.
