Bazil Gillen grew up in Denver, Colorado, and took up drumming at around age ten. He has since then studied/played in the Denver music scene for over 10+ years. His music background includes an eclectic array of styles and diverse musical scenarios.
After obtaining his Associate of Arts from Red Rocks Community College and a certificate in Audio Production from Warren Tech, he continued his education in the form of a Jazz performance degree, studying with Dru Heller at MSU Denver. Outside of his jazz studies, Baz is playing all styles of music in his professional life and has something to teach to students of all backgrounds and ages.
These days, his music career consists of a steady flow of local shows, studio work, U.S. tours, private lessons and guest teaching in public schools across Colorado. Since first entering the field of music education in 2020, Baz has since discovered a true passion for pedagogy and hopes to expand his skills as not only a player but as an educator.
