About Anson Yim

Born in Hong Kong and raised up in Atlanta, GA, Anson Yim's musical journey started at the age of 11 when his mother bought an electric keyboard for his Christmas present. For the next few years, Anson discovered the excitement that comes with being able to play songs from different genres of music. He became determined to learn more about playing the piano as he wanted to learn how to play more advanced pieces, so he decided to buy a piano and start taking lessons from piano teacher Serene Lee when he was at the age of 17.

Anson passed the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) grade 8 piano exam and was awarded the ABRSM of Music Level 3 Certificate in Music Performance – Grade 8 Piano Performance in 2022. Anson is currently taking piano lessons from the same teacher as his next goal is to pass the ABRSM Performance Exam to further improve his piano playing.

Although Anson is a graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in Finance, teaching has always been a passion of his. He enjoys fostering creativity when it comes to his students' piano playing as there are many different genres of music to choose from. Anson's goal for his students is to develop great technical skills, an understanding of music theory, and a deep appreciation for the piano.
