    About Andrea Coiro

Andrea Coiro, born and raised in Rome, Italy, is a lifelong musician with a Bachelor of Art in Music Therapy. His love of music started at a young age and he was fortunate to pursue his passion for electric bass at La Fonderia Delle Arti (Rome, Italy). Here, he studied under rock bassist, Fabrizio Sciannameo, for three years. From there, he went on to study at renowned school of music, PercentoMusica (Rome, Italy), under Massimo Moriconi and Luca Pirozzi. He took his passion for performance and technique to New York City, to study at The Collective. Here, he completed a multi-genre intensive curriculum in Afro-Cuban, Jazz, Rock/Blues under the expertise of Lincoln Goines, Joe Fitzgerald, Sean Conly and Kim Plainfield.

After finishing the Collective, through a few unexpected circumstances, Andrea discovered the opportunity to apply music in therapeutic setting. He enrolled to the Conservatory Luisa D’Annunzio in Pescara, Italy, to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy. He completed the program in 2020 with summa cum laude, after defending his thesis on the impact of the maternal voice on the fetus and in the NICU environment.

Andrea is grateful for the wide array and diversity of experiences in which he’s been able to apply his skills as a music teacher and therapist. He has work in Rome, Italy, and in the U.S. offering private music lessons to adults and young students. He works in numerous schools in the Miami area including the Hebrew Academy Elementary School, Lek Klurmar Mesivta Yeshiva, and he is a music teacher at Young Musician Unite.

He completed part of his fieldwork at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, working across all pediatric departments, completing music therapy-based assessment and intervention. On this team, he was responsible to assess emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through musical responses; design music sessions for individuals and group based on client needs uscì music improvisation, receptive music listening, song writing, lyric discussion, music and imagery, music performance, and learning through music. With a collaborative team, Andrea was able to partecipate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, ongoing evaluation, and follow up.
