Education: I graduated Cum Laude from James Madison University in 2017 with a bachelors of Music Education- Vocal and Instrumental endorsements. There, I participated in marching band playing piccolo. I also was a soloist and leader in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra. I played in quartets and quintets. I completed tech classes in strings, percussion, piano, brass, and woodwinds.

    About Alissa Forbes

    Alissa Forbes is a music educator in the Northern Virginia Area. She graduated from James Madison University with honors in Music Education- Vocal and Instrumental Endorsements. Upon completing her first year as a full-time General Music teacher, as well as Choral director and Orchestra teacher, in Alexandria City Public Schools she can be found performing oboe in the area. Alissa has been described by parents as a passionate and enthusiastic music educator. Her students feel challenged, motivated, and successful.

    Alissa teaches a variety of instruments. Although her main instrument is the Oboe, she also teaches flute and beginning voice, saxophone, clarinet, and piano. She specializes in teaching young musicians through patience and inviting challenges.
