    About Vivian Cheng

Vivian is a piano and voice teacher who has been cultivating her appreciation of music since the age of 5.

She believes music can make a good day great and a bad day better, and that music offers a way to feel present, stay connected to others, and express parts of oneself that daily life may not allow.

Vivian began her piano studies at the age of five through the Royal Conservatory of Music (“RCM”), studying formally for eleven years. While the RCM provided her a strong musical foundation, her love of music extended beyond the conservatory repertoire. She played violin with her high school orchestra, sang in two choirs (including as a featured soloist), and has since explored singing pop, R&B, jazz and musical theatre through private lessons.

After pursuing her post-secondary education in the sciences and law, she continued taking private vocal lessons. She currently performs as lead vocalist for the Sea Level Blues and is eager to perform at various farmers markets.

Vivian is eager to share her passion with the next generation of musicians and with adults discovering music as a new hobby. She believes learning an instrument builds more than musical skills - it builds problem-solving skills, persistence, and a deeper sense of self-expression. Described by others as warm, kind, and patient, Vivian brings an encouraging but goal-oriented approach to every lesson, helping students believe in themselves in ways that extend to music and beyond.
