Spencer Edgers (he/they) is a composer, audio producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Seattle, WA. Spencer grew up in Bellevue, WA, where they began learning piano at age 4, and saxophone at age 10.
Spencer went on to complete a B.M. in Jazz Studies (saxophone performance) at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music & Dance, and continued their education by completing a M.M. in Film Composition at the Seattle Film Institute’s Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program.
In most recent recognized work, Spencer composed the original score for the short film “Poison Crue”, a 2022 El Paso Film Festival Official Selection. Additionally, they were selected as a participant in the 2021-22 Seattle Opera Jane Lang Davis Creation Lab, where they worked with librettist Darby Sherwood to compose and present a 20-minute short opera “The Dust Gets in Your Eyes”.
Between live performances as the resident saxophonist at Supernova Seattle, a debut opera work with the Seattle Opera, and visual media scoring, Spencer utilizes a variety of musical styles and finds fulfillment in using music to evoke powerful emotions.
As a teacher, Spencer strives to create a fun and engaging environment for students, where all questions and inquiries are welcome and valued. Combining a holistic approach with technical mentoring, Spencer teaches saxophone, flute, clarinet, piano, music composition, and music production.
