Sitare Sadeghi is a Washington, D.C. area based Piano and Voice instructor who works with all ages and levels. She is a dedicated and compassionate educator whose philosophy centers on creating a nurturing, inclusive, and joyful environment for musical growth.
Sitare believes that music education is not just about learning an instrument: it's a pathway to self-expression, curiosity, healing, and community. Her goal is to help her students discover their unique musical voices while fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. She also emphasizes strong foundations in healthy technique and music theory, and she works towards making these tools meaningful and relevant to the material we are studying. In her own words, Sitare says, "I want my students to connect deeply with the music they play and to develop a broader appreciation for the music they hear in everyday life. Whether it’s classical, jazz, pop, or music from around the world, I encourage exploration across styles and cultures because music, at its core, is about bringing people together."
Sitare holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Theatre and Piano Pedagogy from Elon University, where she studied under the guidance of Dr. Douglas Jurs, Chris Rayis, and Geiza Dourado.
During her studies, she was honored to receive both the Shackley Keyboard Award and the Outstanding Student Music Research Paper Award -- the latter recognizing her work on adapting Iranian music for piano and making it accessible for students with little or no background in the tradition.
As a soloist, Sitare has performed at venues including Whitley Auditorium, McCrary Theater, and the Cultural Arts Center at Montgomery College. In addition to piano, she has a deep passion for theater, dance, voice, and linguistics, which are elements that often influence the creative and holistic approach she brings to teaching.
At the heart of it all, Sitare believes that music is a universal language -- one that can heal, inspire, and help us understand both ourselves and each other.
