Shaun Cobb is an accomplished string musician and educator with a diverse background in orchestral performance and music education. With a deep passion for music that began in his early years, Shaun has honed his skills in a range of string instruments, including the violin, viola, cello, bass, as well as piano.
He holds a Master of Arts in Music from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Arts from Rollins College, where he studied under distinguished instructors such as Dr. Ross Monroe Winter and Professor Joni Roos. Shaun’s education, combined with years of performance and teaching experience, has equipped him to work with students of all ages and skill levels, fostering a lifelong love for music.
As a performer, Shaun has participated in a variety of ensembles and masterclasses throughout his career. He was a student player with the Bach Festival Society Orchestra under the guidance of Dr. John Sinclair. Shaun has participated in masterclasses given by renowned violinists including Itamar Zorman, Soyoung Yoon, Gil Shahom, and Dr. Sylvia Reynolds Eckes of the Edvard Grieg Society of America. Shaun’s extensive performance experience includes both orchestral and solo settings, where he has cultivated a deep understanding of music interpretation and technique, which he brings to his teaching.
Shaun’s teaching experience spans multiple educational environments, having taught a broad spectrum of students in both private and group settings. He served as the Itinerant Strings Teacher and Orchestra Director for Osceola County Public Schools, where he was responsible for orchestrating rehearsals, recruiting students, and designing curriculum for schools across the district. Currently, Shaun is a contract musician and has also worked as a private instructor at several institutions, including Mindful Music Center and Ace Music Academy, where he has taught violin and piano to students of all ages. Additionally, Shaun has experience in choral conducting and has led performances with the Fruitland Park Challenger Chorus Ensemble during his time at Fruitland Park Elementary in Lake County.
Shaun’s approach to teaching is centered around creating a supportive and dynamic environment where students feel empowered to explore their musical potential. He believes in tailoring his lessons to each student’s individual needs and interests, ensuring they develop both technically and creatively. Shaun emphasizes the importance of musicality, discipline, and a growth mindset in his teaching, striving to instill a love for music while encouraging students to reach their fullest potential. Whether through one-on-one lessons or group instruction, Shaun is committed to fostering an inclusive and inspiring atmosphere that nurtures both the joy and skill of making music.
