Teacher Profile: Sharon Turner

About Sharon Turner

A true Florida native, Sharon recently moved to Acworth, GA and is enjoying continuing to instill her love of music with people of all ages in this area. At a very early age, Sharon’s parents realized that she had an incredible gift for playing the piano and enrolled her in formal lessons where she thrived immediately. In high school, she won several piano competitions and represented her school on both the state and national levels. Sharon received a BA in Piano Pedagogy from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC under Professor Warren Mack.

Sharon's first experience teaching was in a small, private school where she taught both music in the classroom and private lessons to 40+ students on a weekly basis. Over the years, Sharon has taught in private schools, homeschool co-ops, churches, and music schools. The desire to continue to hone her skills inspired her to become a certified Musikgarten instructor, a program that focuses primarily on very early age beginners. No matter her present circumstances, Sharon keeps her students a priority because it is her passion to share her love for music and piano with them. There is no “average” age group for Sharon—she has taught 4-year-olds – 70+ year olds!

She still enjoys playing for pleasure after all her years competing, playing for churches, and doing side gigs for weddings. One of her most notable pleasures was playing for an elite group, “Highest Praise” in Johnson City, TN. This group had a long-standing invitation to perform for the famous Candlelight Christmas @the famous Biltmore Estate located in Asheville, NC every year. Sharon was the principal accompanist for this group 12+ years.

Now that Sharon resides in Acworth, she is looking forward to meeting and working with new “friends”. She believes in her heart that the ability to learn music instills in each individual a lifelong appreciation and can be used as therapy to soothe our souls in times of trouble.
