    About Seth Bixler

New York native Seth Bixler is a Violinist and Multi-Instrumental Music Educator based in Washington DC. He teaches Violin, Viola, Piano, and Music Theory with Lessons In Your Home, and his performance career is centered around Violin.

An enthusiastic chamber musician, Seth has premiered chamber works with and plays as a member of the Virga Quartet. Having recently graduated with a doctorate degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from CU- Boulder, Bixler has a love of teaching a wide variety of age groups and skill levels.

As secondary areas, Seth also teaches Viola, Cello, and Piano. He is a fan of both the Suzuki method for strings and other traditional methods found in school orchestra curriculums. For Seth, the most important aspect of teaching is setting strong fundamentals that lead to enjoyment of the instrument for his students, but also to find what inspires every student uniquely and making a connection. Outside of strings, Seth teaches Piano and feels it's an important foundational instrument that can lead into any other instrumental study down the line. It's also a great vehicle for early beginners and understanding music theory.

In addition to teaching at CU- Boulder, Bixler has worked as a private violin teacher, a mentor for Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras, and an instructor for Project Muse, an afterschool teaching program based in Boulder. In addition to teaching, Bixler has extensive experience performing with many professional orchestras, including Boulder Philharmonic, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Steamboat Symphony, and the Greeley Philharmonic, among others.
