    About Sarah Chun

Sarah Chun is a vocalist, pianist, violinist, and violist, who enjoys teaching students of all ages and sharing her passion for music with the next generation of musicians. Sarah was introduced to music at a very young age, with a particular emphasis on piano and choral singing. She also studied violin and viola during her early years, further developing her appreciation for both vocal and instrumental music.

Sarah grew up in a musical environment that emphasized choral and string music. Throughout her childhood, her family surrounded her with a variety of musical instruments; however, vocal artistry ultimately became her greatest passion. Sarah began her choral journey in eighth grade in McKinney and continued developing her skills through the A Cappella Choir at The University of Texas at Arlington under the direction of Dr. Karen Kenaston-French. Throughout her collegiate experience, Sarah has had the opportunity to perform in a variety of distinguished venues and productions. Her performance experiences include Carmina Burana at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), The Flying Dutchman at Bass Performance Hall, and Earth Symphony at the Meyerson Symphony Center under the direction of composer and conductor Jake Runestad.

In addition to her studies during the week, Sarah serves as a conductor at her church, directing the Sunday morning choir. She has been actively serving in her church since graduating from high school and recently transitioned into the role of choir director. This experience has allowed her to further develop her leadership, musicianship, and passion for working with vocal ensembles.

Sarah’s passion for teaching grew from her experiences in orchestra, particularly while working with students in the non-varsity ensemble. Inspired and encouraged by one of her own teachers, she began pursuing music education and discovered a deep appreciation for helping students grow as musicians. Sarah believes that every student deserves the opportunity to experience the joy and artistry of music while working toward their individual goals. She strives to create an encouraging environment where students can develop their musical abilities, build confidence, and enjoy the process of making music.

Outside of music and teaching, Sarah enjoys playing video games and singing karaoke from the comfort of her home. She is also working on a cross-stitching project with her sister to create all 151 Pokémon from the original generation.
