Randy Kartchner is a versatile and accomplished musician whose career spans over three decades in the music industry. He holds a B.A. in Music with an emphasis in studio composition from Brigham Young University, where he developed a deep understanding of both classical and contemporary music. Randy’s musical journey began with classical piano and violin studies and expanded through years of performance in choirs and orchestras. As his passion for music grew, he transitioned into arranging, producing, and conducting, with a unique gift for blending orchestral and pop elements. Randy plays and teaches piano, violin, and voice, and draws on his broad experience to help students grow both technically and artistically.
As a performer and arranger, Randy has worked alongside some of the most iconic names in the industry, including the Osmond Brothers, Marie Osmond, Patti Austin, Debbie Gibson, Gladys Knight, and Phillip Ingram. His work has appeared on national television and in live performances across the country. His orchestration and original compositions have been featured on major shows like Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, Wheel of Fortune, and Wild About Animals, as well as in internationally distributed films and documentaries. Highlights include arranging the #1 Christian Adult Contemporary hit “You Found Me” by FFH and composing for theatrical productions such as Crosses and 1856, where his dramatic scoring helped define the shows’ impact. Randy's production credits span Christian, pop, cinematic, and inspirational genres, including work for Grammy-winning artists and national non-profit events.
Randy has taught in both public school and private settings, including as choir and orchestra director at Park City High School in Utah. He has also served as a substitute teacher in multiple districts, leading band, choir, and orchestra classes at all levels. In addition, he has led clinics, taught music business workshops, and provided private instruction in piano, voice, and composition. Randy has a natural ability to connect with students of all ages, and his teaching emphasizes real-world music skills, creativity, and artistic development.
His teaching philosophy is grounded in creativity, connection, and confidence. Randy believes music should be both structured and joyful—where students build a solid technical foundation while being inspired to explore and express themselves.
