About Margaret Widener
Margaret first began playing violin at age 8, and quickly fell in love with the instrument. Nine months later, she auditioned for the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra in Jacksonville, FL. Margaret was a member of the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra until she graduated from high school, completing eleven years of orchestral performance. During her final year in JSYO, Margaret had the opportunity to perform in the organization's top orchestra, Philharmonic, as both Concertmaster and Principal Second.
Margaret Widener began her pursuit of a bachelor's degree in music performance in 2016 at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL. Margaret held the Principal Second chair from her freshman to junior year, and had the opportunity to serve as the orchestra's concertmaster her senior year. During her college career, Margaret had multiple opportunities to perform in a variety of venues with many different ensembles, including the Friday Musicale and the 2018 FMEA conference in Orlando, FL. Margaret also won many opportunities to perform both solo and in an ensemble for the Jacksonville University's Fine Arts Department Honors Recitals over the course of her college career. Margaret graduated with her Bachelor in Music Performance in the spring of 2020.
Margaret currently resides in Orlando, FL. In addition to teaching private lessons, she also has worked with a variety of small and large ensembles in partnership with Jacksonville University and the Golden Isles Youth Orchestra in Brunswick, GA. Additionally, Margaret is an avid performer throughout Florida and Georgia, both as a soloist and as a member of multiple ensembles. She has been teaching private lessons for five years to students of all ages and all levels of experience and ability, and loves to share the joy of music with her students.
