    About Letha Hankins

With a vocal performance degree in Musical Theatre from the University of Georgia, a teaching certification from Georgia State University, National Board Certification, and additional certifications in ESOL, Gifted Education, and Educational Administration, Letha Hankins brings over 25 years of teaching experience to her students.

A long-time Atlanta resident, Letha began performing locally as a student and continued to share her talents throughout Europe and Canada. Her professional experience includes performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, the Atlanta Choral Guild, the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra, and various gospel music artists. She currently serves as the vocal coach for two-time Grammy Award winner Karyn White, supporting her ongoing career. An ordained musician at Metro City Church in Atlanta, Ms. Hankins continues to be an active performer and mentor in the local music community.

In addition to her work as a vocalist, Ms. Hankins is a professional flutist and woodwind doubler, having studied with Dr. Ronald Waln (flute) and Sam Skelton (saxophone). Her classical voice studies were with Charlotte Reinke. She is also a skilled improviser, piano accompanist, and student of classical piano literature.

Ms. Hankins’ teaching approach centers on nurturing each student’s love of music while supporting their individual goals and interests. Lessons are designed to be engaging and thoughtful, blending foundational technique with repertoire that reflects the student’s style and preferences. She is experienced in a wide range of musical genres—from classical and jazz to R&B and pop—and helps students develop the technical and stylistic skills needed for each.

A typical lesson includes warmups, theory study, and focused work on technique and repertoire, often paired with listening or viewing assignments from master performers. Ms. Hankins strives to create a learning environment that is both enjoyable and challenging, helping students grow as confident, expressive musicians.
